Oomen Agro grew out of the agricultural firm founded in 1952 by the parents of Jac Oomen, the current owner. In 1978, he and his wife, Mieke Oomen-Braam took over the exploitation of the company. In addition to its traditional agricultural business, in 1991 the company began to specialize in the storage of onions, through a refrigerating company called Koelbedrijf Oomen. In 2000 a new company was created, Oomen Agro, where onions are professionally sorted, packaged and traded. That business was expanded in 2004 by starting to import onions from New Zealand. In a short time Oomen Agro has grown into an important company in the business and maintains customer relations around the globe. |
